# Page indexing report: what every status means and how to fix it

Search Console lists a reason for every page Google has not indexed. Find the reason you see, learn whether it needs fixing, and get the fix.

[Find your status](#statuses)[Check a page](https://indexmysite.app/tools/indexability)

## Which status do you see?

Some statuses mean something is wrong. Others are Google working as expected. Filter the list, then open a status for the full fix.

## How to work through the report

Start with the pages that earn you customers, not with the biggest number.

1. 1

List the pages that must be indexed

Product, pricing, feature, docs, and comparison pages. Ignore the rest for now.

2. 2

Find which status each one has

Use URL Inspection in Search Console, or open each reason in the report and look for your URLs.

3. 3

Fix the cause, not the symptom

Open the status page above for the fix. Run the free checker to confirm nothing still blocks the page.

4. 4

Submit the fixed pages and track them

Request indexing in URL Inspection for a few pages, or submit them in bulk with Index My Site and see which ones get indexed.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the Page indexing report?

It is the Search Console report that shows how many of your pages Google has indexed, and lists the reasons other pages are not indexed. Click a reason to see example URLs, then use URL Inspection on one of them for details.

Source: [Google Search Console Help: Page indexing report](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203)

### Do I need every page indexed?

No. Redirects, alternate versions of a page, and pages you deliberately keep out of Google are expected to show as not indexed. Look at the pages that matter to your business, such as product, pricing, docs, and comparison pages, and make sure those are indexed.

### How long does the report take to update?

The report is not live. Google updates it after it crawls and processes your pages again, so a fix can take days or weeks to show. URL Inspection with a live test shows the current state of a single page straight away.

### Should I submit every URL in the report?

No. Fix the cause first, then submit only pages you want indexed. Submitting a redirect, a noindex page, or a page that points to another page as the original will not get it indexed. Our checks skip those URLs before sending, so they are not charged.

### What does Index My Site do with a submitted URL?

We check the page for redirects, noindex tags, robots.txt blocks, error pages, and canonicals that point elsewhere, then help Googlebot discover and crawl it. We check every URL once after 24 hours. Your full report follows around day 5, with final checks around day 14. If Google has not indexed the URL at the final check, the standard credit comes back.

### What does it cost?

Each sent URL costs 1 credit, which is $0.20, or $0.10 on purchases of $1,000 or more. URLs skipped before sending are not charged.

## Fixed your pages? Submit them and track the result
